Why OH Why MySpace

Well, I enjoyed reading the blogs from librarians regarding the use of myspace and why it should/shouldn't be used as a library tool. My 14 year old has been using myspace for a while and I have to admit I spent the first 2-3 months looking over her shoulder, making sure that she was only talking to age appropriate folks, not checking out stuff that even I wouldn't look at. But lo and behold, she is only yakking to kids that she knows the screen name for.
She thought it was terribly funny that KCLS was having librarians and l.a.'s make up myspace pages. Then she gave my a list of names to check out when my page was up and running. Sheesh...the pressure. Now I have to make sure that my page isn't dumb or goofy cause she said she was gonna share it with some of her friends and I sure don't want them to think I'm not cool.
So, THANKS KCLS for the training, and I will keep you posted on my coolness factor.

Soooo... why'd you have to go and tell her you were going to make a RenaeSpace account? Couldn't you have kept it quiet until, well, later? Like maybe when she moves out of the house? "Here's a plate of cookies to take with you, honey. Oh, and I've got a MySpace page you can look at when you miss me." Well, at least you warned me before I go and tell my kids about mine...
